"Rewind" by Murray Chalmers

Created by murray 7 years ago
I was thinking of love, you came to mind,
Childhood memories, I long to rewind,
Remember this rule in times of distress,
Rewind the years to our days at Glentress,

Our long walks with nature, mile upon mile,
Remember these times, I bet you will smile,
But our adventures, were surely surpassed,
By the journey itself, this went too fast,

So we sang our way there, we sang our way back,
But singing talent we surely did lack,
A bushel and a peck, we sang badly,
I doubt Doris Day would listen gladly,

Some Memories have a funny story,
Although some, don’t cover you in glory,
Kindly giving you a lift with a mate,
You made comments, any grandson would hate,

You said you’re sex life’s better than ever,
Why would you say that? That wasn’t clever,
For that comment I was the butt of jokes,
Now that my friends know my gran likes her blokes,

Another story that sticks in my mind,
A funnier tale I never will find,
An itchy ear means people are talking,
You’re suggestion we’ve never stopped mocking,

A cream for female irritation,
Intended as a helpful donation,
Please consider when you offer advice,
In future, E45 would suffice,

Memories you’ve given will never fade,
Nor will the role you undoubtedly played,
Making me the person which I am now,
I believe for that you should take a bow,

Memories play an important role,
They help us have a happy soul,
That’s why no money could ever be paid,
To swap the memories that we have made,

These memories have a place in my heart,
With this in mind we’ll never be apart,
Forever they will remain in my mind,
When they are needed I can just rewind.
